If there’s one thing you’ll notice walking through life, it’s that there’s no shortage of nonsense. It comes at you in news feeds, in ads, in politics, in corporate slogans, in even the simplest daily choices. And sometimes, you — yes, you — will buy right into it, without even thinking.
George Carlin saw this coming, mocking the world for sleepwalking straight into garbage thinking. The Order respects that voice. But we go a step further: we look for ways to break the cycle, so we don’t become part of it ourselves.
The World Sells Easy Lies, and We Buy Them
People cling to illusions because illusions feel safe. Quick fixes, endless upgrades, magic diets, magic tools, instant everything. They package these illusions so slickly, you don’t even know you’re swallowing them. It happens in our trades, too: the cheap part that fails, the shortcut that makes a mess, the “half-trained genius” who blows through a job with no pride.
The Order says: If it sounds too easy, look closer. If you want to avoid becoming a sucker, you need to train your eye to see the lie.
Why Stupid Multiplies
Stupid spreads because no one wants to look in the mirror. Nobody wants to admit, “Yeah, I fell for it.” So we double down. We defend it. We pretend it was smart.
- “I meant to do that.”
- “Hey, it’s good enough.”
- “At least I finished.”
That is the ego talking. The Order says: check your ego at the door. If you messed up, own it. If you got fooled, learn from it. That’s how you get better.
How to Recognize the Trap
- Too good to be true — Anything promising everything for nothing usually delivers nothing for everything.
- Follow the herd — If everyone is rushing toward something screaming “best ever,” stop and ask why.
- Ignore consequences — If nobody can explain the downside, it’s because they want you to ignore it.
A tradesman, a citizen, a grown adult: you should never stop asking questions.
Grow, Don’t Grumble
The Order does not exist to simply complain about the world. We exist to be better than it.
- Learn your craft
- Take pride in your work
- Keep your promises
- Hold yourself accountable
- Call out nonsense when you see it — but fix your own nonsense first
That’s how you break the cycle of stupid. That’s how you become a builder, not a destroyer.
What Carlin Would Tell You
Carlin pointed out that “nobody seems to notice, nobody seems to care.” The Order notices. The Order cares.
But caring doesn’t mean rage. It means focus. It means building your skills, your mind, your voice, so you are strong enough to see the con — and strong enough to refuse it.
In the End…
If the world wants to keep doubling down on stupid, let it. But don’t join it. Don’t defend it. Don’t repeat it.
- Work hard
- Think harder
- Grow constantly
The world doesn’t need more loudmouths with no backbone. It needs thoughtful men who can laugh at stupidity — and then stand up and do something smarter.
Grunt. Gesture. Grow. — And refuse to be fooled.
